The Microsoft Office Specialist certification program provides program literacy, measures proficiency, and identifies opportunities for skills enhancement using Microsoft Excel to work more productively and efficiently. Microsoft Office Specialist certification satisfies a client's need for a qualitative assessment of a consultant's Microsoft Excel skills. Dale Rainwater holds Microsoft Office Specialist certificates in Microsoft Excel 2002, Microsoft Excel 2000 and Microsoft Excel 97. Microsoft Excel, part of the Microsoft Office suite, is a spreadsheet program that allows you to quickly organize data, perform calculations on the data, make analytical decisions, share information, create graphs and charts based upon the data, and develop professional looking reports. A Microsoft Excel workbook uses worksheets that consist of cells formed by the intersection of columns and rows. Worksheet cells contain data and formulas. Formulas can be short and simple or long and complicated. Microsoft Excel is frequently described as a database. This is because Microsoft Excel includes many database management system features. For example, Microsoft Excel includes components such as tables, forms, queries and reports. Microsoft Excel can be used to design and develop custom applications programmed with Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). VBA doesn't have to be compiled while Visual Basic is dependent upon the compilation process. VBA code can be placed in the Microsoft Excel file, on the computer hard drive or on a network. Currently, target markets of Dale Rainwater Consulting are the geographical regions of New York City, NY and Northwest Arkansas.
